I'm filling in for dmsilev this week, who typically writes these FAQ Forum posts that are a great read for users new and old.
This is your usual Wednesday evening forum for asking questions about how this place works. If you're not used to this series, feel free to dive in and ask or answer questions. Serious questions will get serious answers, and snarky questions will get snarky answers.
Ultimately, this is your forum for questions and answers, but since diaries are supposed to be long (or at least, not short), I thought I'd point out one dKos feature which, while I've known about it for a while (and you probably have too), I have begun to appreciate more lately.
Your Hotlist (Subscribing to a user's diaries)
If you hang around here long enough, you'll undoubtedly find at least a few Kossacks whose diaries you absolutely love. Not everyone can be on this site 24/7 to plot our conspiracy to take over the world (RedState's on to us!), so to make sure you catch every diary by an author you like, do the following:
- When reading one of their diaries, click "Subscribe" next to their name at the top.
- Then, whenever you log onto dKos, click on "Your Hotlist" on the right-hand side of the page. Scroll down to "Diary Watchlist". A list of authors you've subscribed to should appear, and if they have any recent diaries you haven't read yet, the diary headline should appear under their name.
There's a lot of awesome people on this site (I have subscribed to 70 different diary writers, and there's probably dozens more I'm missing). It's easy to miss something good they have written -- while many great diaries make the rec list, not all of them do (or they don't stay there for long), so this helps me catch up with what they have to say.
OK, what are your questions?
