I had a flat tire and wanted to get it repaired ( I know the are $4 at Wal-Mart), but there is a law in my state that prevents me from buying a patch without getting permission from a licensed Automotive Mechanic.
So I went to the Automotive Mechanics waiting room and paid 76 dollars to talk to him and tell him I have a flat tire.
After waiting in the Mechanics waiting room for 2 hours, I tell the Mechanic about my flat tire.
He agrees that it needs a patch, but insists that it has been too long since I have had my oil changed and I must do that in order to receive a Patch.
I ask his assistant how much the oil change costs and she replies 36 dollars, so I consent
When the bill arrives, it is $36 dollars for the oil, and another $36 dollars for pouring it.
Finally I am able to purchase my $4 patch.
Total cost $152 for a four dollar patch.
I tell you this because I cut my toe last week, and it started to get infected and I wanted to get some Cephalexin (WalMart $4)
So I went to my local clinic ($76) and got a prescription and the insisted upon tetanus shot ($72) in order to get a piece of paper that enabled me to buy the antibiotic for $4.
