I don't get it, I really don't. What gives Frank Rich and many others on this site standing to jump the shark after only 60 days and declare the President, the treasury managers and the policies coming out failures, Katrina Moments, and various other hard to comprehend impatient prejudging ramblings...
Math can tell you how a plane will fly, because it's a machine.
Math cannot tell you how an economy will respond, because it's a human system, motivated by greed and reward.
Right now, where we stand today, everyone is wrong and no one is right. The future is what we will make it. So far, we know this much:
- Our Democracy gave us choices, and we went as a people down one road.
- Management, it's effects, and the results of the Obama "Change" will take months and years to be seen.
- President Obama appears to be entirely in control and in touch.
There is no Katrina Moment, what there is however, and in great supply, is the impatience of a 13 year old boy just passed a note from the cutest girl in class... our community is rounding the bases in it's head, the critics among us second guessing decisions not even made yet, predicting outcomes that have not yet been set into motion, and counting the results, good or bad, before the fundamentals are known.
Chill.
The.
Fuck.
Out.
Get.
A.
Fucking.
Grip.
EVERYONE.
If you watched President Obama on 60 Minutes tonight, you'll see a person who is obviously both stressed, strainted and stimulated by the challenges ahead. You'll see a person who isn't blinded by loyalty to ideology or hellbent on seeing it done only his way. Our President is capable of solving this problem, and all the problems before him.
Are we however, as a community, capable of being a patient partner with the President we elected to serve in this fiercely trying moment in history?
