I watched the President’s news conference last night, and I now understand what is so very scary about him.
"This guy is dangerous" I said, when I heard him essentially say that nothing is carved in stone and that programs need to be reviewed periodically to make sure they are working. They need to be altered if they are not working. What kind of nonsense is that? It’s obvious he hasn’t been working in government for very long.
The way Obama is willing to make government adapt to the needs of the country is completely "un-American" governing. Where does he get off saying that government programs have to work?
I have worked for government agencies, both state and federal, for 11 of the past 17 years. That is NOT how we operate. Once the government makes up its mind, that’s it.
If we procure a contract that doesn’t deliver and soars way over budget, we don’t re-examine it. We just shell out the extra cash even though we get no useable product in the end; we don’t go changing things. To do so would be to admit fault. We Never, Ever, admit to making mistakes or, God forbid, being all out wrong about something. To compromise is to show weakness! Standing by your ideals even when they are wrong shows strength and good governance!
Even if the agency does make a mistake (which it never does), we are not allowed to own up to it. The philosophy here is that The State is never wrong. That is the culture of government; he can’t just come in here and change that!
The thing that scared me the most, and proves just how dangerous he really is, was his response to the reporter asking why it took 2 days to respond to the bonus blowup. His response? "Because I like to know what I am talking about before I speak." What kind of elitist philosophy is that? He likes to know what he’s talking about? What makes him so special? Our last president never cared if he knew what he was talking about, and he did a great job of running things because no one attacked us again.
I just don’t get it. How could a man who is thoughtful and connected to reality have been elected president? Be afraid America; these ideas of applying reason, logic, human decency and sense to government is a recipe for disaster! It could change everything, and who needs that right?
Not US! We don’t need to change anything; government is always right and never, ever makes mistakes.
(PS – If you think I’m right and don’t see the sarcasm, you might be a wing-nut in the no machine.)
