Unfortunately I have recently switched job locations from one that was 20-30 min from my house (depending on traffic) to one that is at least 75 min. The good news is the new location is very convenient for taking the train (and my employer provides a shuttle from the staition to the workplace). I have noticed that some of my co-workers use the train time to catch up on thier sleep, unfortunately I haven't been able to do that. I'm asking my fellow Kossacks for ideas on what to do during these rides.
While Amtrak did experiment with Wi-Fi on these trains in the past, my understanding is that it is not available at this time. There are tables (with four seats around them) on the train and I can usually get one. There are also electrical outlets available. They have a food car that sells coffee and snacks (it's a little pricey, but yesterday I felt my $4.50 beer on the way home was worth every penny). So far the main things I do are listen to my ipod and watch the scenery roll past. Today I got a few books on CD from the library and I am converting them to play on my ipod for next week. So what do/would you do on your train ride?
