Please excuse the brevity of this diary:
Tuesday, 5 May, the Maine House takes up debate on L.D. 1020, An Act To End Discrimination in Civil Marriage and Affirm Religious Freedom. The bill essentially removes all gender specific terms from current Maine law, and thus would impact hundreds of other state laws that use the term "marriage" in them.
L.D. 1020, introduced by Sen. Dennis Damon, has already passed the State Senate. It will likely pass the House.
I will be live blogging the debate, which begins shortly after 10:00 a.m., which is expected to last all day, at Turn Maine Blue. Look forward to reading your comments (no waiting period!).
