The Republican party has been silent on the extremism of conservative talk radio too long. Time to hold them accountable.
Jay Severin, right wing talk radio host on Boston's WTKK, was taken off the air recently, ostensibly for referring to Mexicans as Primitives and Crimelians and stating the the only thing Mexicans export is women with mustaches and VD. Severin has a long history of virulent racist and xenophobic paranoia, including repeated references to Hillary Clinton as a "fat whore", Ted Kennedy as a "murdering pig", Michelle Obama as a "bitch on wheels, a world class witch". Jay routinely referred to the poorer neighborhoods of Boston as "bastard factories" and framed the 2008 election as an "election between us and them."
But Severin has done this with the full support and tacit endorsement of the Republican establishment. He preaches from his talk radio pulpit legitimized by a steady stream of Republican and conservative luminaries who regularly appear as guests on his program. Here is a sampling of the Republican and conservative leaders that have been "glad to be here" on Jays hate filled program since 2008:
Mitt Romney holds the record at 3 appearances since January, 2008 (10/28/08. 9/2/08, 1/8/08). Jay is openly worshipful of Romney and apparently the feeling is mutual
John Bolton - April 33, 2009
Mark Levin - April 14, 2009
Anne Coulter twice since 2008
Jeff Miron in October 2008 - Jeff is a lecturer of Economics at Harvard
Daniel Bergstressen in September, 2009 - Daniel is a professor of economics at Harvard Business School
Where is the Republican establishment outrage about Severin's clearly racist rants? how come they continued to support his show by appearing on it? Certainly Romney and Bolton do not support Severin's extremist views. So why not speak out against them? It is time to match Republican guests with the extremist utterances of their right wing talk radio hosts and hold them accountable.
