Erick Erickson is the editor-in-chief of RedState.
Erick Erickson is the model Republican blogger to serve in political office.
Erick Erickson is shaming the entire city council of Macon, Georgia.
As a city councilman, Erickson tweeted the following:
The nation loses the only goat fucking child molester to ever serve on the Supreme Court in David Souter's retirement.
Great stuff, huh? RedState thinks so:
Great job, Erick! And your comments about Souter were positively Cheney-worthy. No higher praise than that.
You talents are needed elsewhere, run for higher office NOW!
Thank God this group is quickly becoming a minority. But in the meantime, Erickson is wasting the time of an entire city council! First, let's watch him pat himself on the back for getting all pissy about his Twitter bile-spewing being spread around town:
Well, last week, in an unguarded moment I said something very intemperate regarding Justice David Souter. I should not have said it, but I did. I’m not going to run from it. ... In any event, local Democratic activists who tend to dislike me for things like blocking tax increases and voting against museum funding saw their chance. ... The funny part of this is that had Elaine Lucas not attacked me personally, I’d have kept those [time-wasting] resolutions in my computer bag.
Yeah, go Erick! Here are the resolutions he proposed, in order to drag out the debate on a non-legislative resolution honoring Obama's election:
"WHEREAS, we appreciate Barack Obama’s candidness in his autobiography admitting that he had snorted cocaine"
and
"WHEREAS, Barack Obama has set an example for us all by bravely keeping his money invested in the United States despite calls for him to help his brother out of the slums and poverty of Kenya"
and
"WHEREAS, we hold no ill will with regard to Barack Obama being the only member of the Illinois State Senate to speak in favor of infanticide during his tenure there"
and
"WHEREAS, prior to entering elected office, Barack Obama started his political fundraising efforts in the living room of noted domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, a man who planned to kill numerous American policemen."
Again, thank God people like this are not serving in state or federal office.
The news story:
With only two Republicans among the council's 15 members, the Obama resolution might not stir up much trouble on the Macon City Council.
But Councilman Erick Erickson, a conservative blogger with a flair for publicity, said he will put up a fight.
Erickson said he's preparing 100 amendments for Lucas' resolution, each one recognizing a different person who is "also worthy of honor." On the short list: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, the country's first female speaker and a well-known Democrat; former President Jimmy Carter, the only president from Georgia; and Phil Walden, the late music producer who helped make Macon a well-known part of rock and roll history.
Paris and Lucas are both black. White and Erickson are both white. Councilman Virgil Watkins, the body's youngest member, is a 24-year-old black man. He said the resolution is not a major issue, but he'd vote for it.
