My 16 year old brother is affected with Autism. I love him more than anything in the world. And I am sick and tired of being told that I do not accept him or I am trying to kill other children if I believe Jenny McCarthy's theories about how he became afflicted with this disorder.
I am not here to debate the merits of what she says. I am simply asking the community to cease and desist the derision of families who are simply looking for an answer. You will never know what it is like to grow up raising an autistic son/daughter/brother/sister/etc. until you have done so yourself.
I am not against childhood vaccination. I simply want the vaccines cleansed of the poisons that harm children. Frankly, it sounds like a good progressive position to me. If anyone bothered to actually go to http://www.generationrescue.org the front page provides a link for information on safe vaccination.
I do not believe vaccines cause all cases of Autism. There are many factors to this Spectrum disorder, genetic and environmental. We should be able to unite in an effort to stop this plague that remains a mystery to science despite an ever growing body of research. Many Big Pharma backed studies have "debunked" the vaccine myth, but there ARE good studies out there that show a potential link, such as this one by the University of Pittsburgh: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/...
We are not a grand conspiracy. We are not trying to kill anyone and the hateful incendiary rhetoric needs to end if the Autism epidemic is to be stopped. I hope that we all hope Autism and its costs will not be forgotten when Health Care Legislation is drawn up by Congress in the coming months. Let's stop demonizing people and get back to the real issue, that Autism is an epidemic that costs society $3.2 million per patient over a lifetime and the families of those affected with a lifetime of heartache.
That's all I have to say for now. I will not be responding to any vileness. Thank you.
