Just finished:
The Monty Hall Problem by Jason Rosenhouse. Wonderful for math geeks, puzzle ponderers, and anyone who wants to learn probability. My review is on the linked page, and I discussed this in morning feature on Tuesday
Now reading:
Godel, Escher, Bach - the going is getting heavy, the crowds are getting scarce, but I keep plugging away, every Sunday morning.
A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge. Space opera. Millions of worlds, aliens abound, huge stakes ... good stuff
A History of Western Philosophyby Bertrand Russell. A great survey.
The Enlightenment: An anthology by Peter Gay. I found this at a used book stand near me. Just started; it's interesting.
Just started:
The Cult of Statistical Significance why the traditional, Fisherian method of doing statistics is bad, and what we should do instead. Very important, but somewhat overly dramatic.
Bozo Sapiens: Why to err is human by Ellen and Michael Kaplan. The authors, one of whom (Ellen) is a friend, sent this to me; it arrived yesterday, and I started it this morning. I have only read one page, but it already looks good.
