Small rant. Just read this.
WASHINGTON – House Democrats are crafting a plan that would require all Americans to carry health insurance and would help families making less than $88,000 pay the premiums. Employers, too, would have to help foot the bill.
Let me explain something really slow, in case any staffer is here and feels the burning desire to get fired while cluing in the morons who came up with this lameness: You can require ME to have health insurance as much as you want, but there's nothing that says they HAVE to give it to me, OK?
I'm a fat guy. I admit it. I've been slowly losing the weight on doctor's orders, and I've shed a good bit of it. However, even though I fit in the criteria of height/weight ratios for insurability and have NO other medical conditions, every single time I've went looking for insurance, I've been rejected.
Didn't matter that I have had a clean bill of health for decades.
Didn't matter what level I set the deductible at.
Didn't matter what terms I was willing to live with.
Didn't matter that I had the cash in hand, willing to buy the product.
They said no. They always said no. There's nothing in your proposal to make them say yes unless they decide that they want to make me pay a bunch MORE than they wanted in the first place because YOU'VE given them all the leverage in the world AND put the law on their side instead of mine.
So go ahead. Mandate that I've GOT to fork over to some bastard a bunch MORE money then I could have (doubtfully) negotiated on my own because now it's the LAW that I have to give it to him. And watch me break it. And thanks a whole fucking bunch for not looking out for my interests.
To sum up: Get Bent. Or you can make a room for me at the county jail next to the doctors and lawyers who you'll lock up for daring to stand up for single payer.
