Here is another in a series of these Hawaiian photo galleries. It serves no serious purpose. I hope you enjoy it.
Honu Cleaning Station
At a shallow spot in the reef at Makaha the Green Sea Turtles or "Honu" gather to have parasites and dead skin removed by surgeonfish and cleaner wrasse.
This turtle has assumed the position, allowing the fish to get to all those hard to reach places.
Flying
Sponges and hard and soft corals growing on the mast of a wreck, sunk intentionally as an artificial reef.
Looking up at the bow of the wreck from 80 feet. The light colored growth are hydroids, stinging relatives of the jellyfish. Don't touch!
Spotted Eagle Ray The feature in the background it the bow of the wreck. The previous shot is looking up at the underside of that wheel on the bow.
Spotted Eagle Ray I am still waiting to get a really good shot of these graceful creatures.
You can see a Tiger Snake Moray twisting through the coral. I am excited by these shot because I have never seen one of these guys before. The are normally elusive and nocturnal but this one was out in the open.
Tiger Snake Moray, business end
Multiband Butterflyfish
We near the end of our photo diary
Another somewhat voggy sunset. The haze from the volcano on the Big Island invaded again this weekend.
I hope you have enjoyed this little trip under the surface. Feel free to post you photos and as always, be good humans.
Aloha
