So i wrote a novel of sorts and in my search for an agent, i discovered, that gay and lesbian people don't live real lives, like the rest of us normal, straight folks. It's true, in books at least.
I've been searching for years, the amount of time it took me to pen my story about a gay couple on a humorous adventure as they come out to their families, and i still have not discovered - on paper, any agent who thinks that it's possible to have a gay and lesbian fiction without it being erotica. There's no cross genre, no in-between.
If it's romance, the couple must be straight, naturally. If it's gay or lesbian, then it must be erotica - because gays and lesbians are incapable of romance. They're essentially all sexual deviants who have no jobs, or work part time because they have to hurry home. or to an alley to pick up strangers. to satisfy their wild gay and lesbian urges.
Geez. That sounds like a book I read.
And they certainly have no sense of humor.
Just an observation.
