I have read that Justice Ginsberg and her good buddy justice Scalia don't agree about much but they do agree that the purpose of the Constitution is to help us all form a more perfect union. I wonder if what they and Constitutional scholar Obama mean by that is the same as what we might mean.
I get the sense that what they mean by it is we should all subscribe to attitudes and values that make it easy to be very inclusive with the goal that everyone should be united in a more perfect union.
What I think of when I think of a more perfect union is one where impeachment would never be off the table, and neither would dinner.
I'm looking for a more perfect union where we fund healthcare, education, alternative energy and not war; where a bill like Waxman Markey would actually penalize poluters; where single payer healthcare with universal comprehensive coverage would be paid for by taxes ont he haves and have mores and where politicians who kidnap, torture, murder and hold without rendition would get held accountable.
I'm looking for a more perfect union with a President who accepts it as a testable hypothesis that if he talks the talk at Cairo he walks the walk at Gitmo.
I'm looking for a more perfect union with a Freedom of Information Act that doesn't have exceptions for inconvenient truths.
