Alright people, it is time to put our strength in numbers to use! We know that a public option (obviously outside of single payer) is the only way to improve care, keep costs low, and keep private insurance companies honest. However the Republicans continue to push back against it and the Democrats continue to cave into their demands. So it is time that they hear from us. Slinkerwink, Chris Bowers, and some others have done a great job so far informing the community of the ongoing debate. But today must be the day that we as an online community start to take control of the debate, and inform Congress and the White House that the American people want the public option!
A recent diary on here informed us that the opponents of the public option are beating us in contacting our elected representatives. This must stop! We have to take back the debate! I am asking for every single person who clicks on this diary to at least call or email (or both) their 2 senators, representative, and the White House. That is 4 phone calls or emails. It should take no more than 5 minutes. If you are truly concerned about getting the public option in our health care reform, you can take 5 minutes to contact the White House and Congress.
In the recent NBC/WSJ poll, 75% of the American people said that the public option was extremely or quite important to health care reform. This number must be repeated constantly to Congress and the White House as evidence that the public option is what the people want.
So here are links to the contact forms for the Congress and the White House:

If you have more time and would like to call and email more people in Congress, here are the contacts for the Senate Finance and HELP committees, whose attempts at "bipartisanship" means they need the most pressure from us:

In the poll below, I want to keep a running tally of how many contacts we have made. I would love to see us make several hundred contacts with Congress and the White House.
Simply writing diaries or making comments on diaries is not enough anymore. We must pull together and have action! And today must be the start of this action.
