I haven't written a diary here in a while. Perhaps it's because I prefer taking pics. ;) A slideshow is presented below the fold.
I attended a very passionate rally, which was attended by mostly Iranian-Americans across the White House today. They were angry at the Iranian Regime; yet supportive of President Obama. The chants were in Farsi, so perhaps others who are Persian here and had attended may be able to share their experiences, here as well.
I created this image below to express my solidarity with the protesters in Iran and for their brave efforts towards democracy.
Our message to the protesters in Iran is that we support your efforts and hearten your call for freedom and democracy! ...
Iran Pro-Democracy & Solidarity Rally - DC (22-Jun, 2009)
I'm downtown, just uploaded the album,...and I'm heading home. Iow, sorry that I can't respond to anyone until I return. Besides, it's a photoblog anyway.
Update: As several of you noticed, the flag that's flying at these rallies dates to the Pahlavi Dynasty. Of course, I'm not surprised why this flag represents the protesters who rallied here.
Imo, regardless of the symbolism and connotation from these images on the Iranian flag: the Pahlavi Dynasty (past) vs the Islamic Rupublic (present) that may be conveyed to many here, especially on a historical level, it was clear that the protesters today were solely expressing their solidarity with the protesters in Iran, as well as expression their outrage against the current Iranian Islamic regime for its brutality to suppress the votes and voices towards its own people.
To Iran, our thoughts and prayers of support for your democracy movement!
