A daily blog in defense of liberalism and the President.
I’m not sure where to start, but I guess I will just jump right in and let Sen. Ensign, who is currently holding the mantle of Washington’s biggest Hypocrite, know that just because Gov. Mark "Hey I love Argentina" Sanford went crazy and decided to leave the entire country that we haven’t forgotten that he needs to step down from his Senate seat, for America does not need his brand of hypocrisy dirtying up the corridors of the Capitol any more that it already is. When is the Republican Party going to join the rest of us back here on planet Earth? Sen. Ensign got a round of applause from his Senatorial Republican comrades the other day at their weekly luncheon. Sen. Bob "I’ll exploit racism" Corker said his colleague Sen. Ensign was a stand up guy! Well I am so glad that the Grand Old Hypocrisy Party so easily forgives the transgressions of their own, but will lash out with venom on those on the other side, but what can you expect from the Republicans? As for Gov. Sanford I would hope the people of his state in all seriousness ask for him to step down or start procedures to impeach him. You cannot, and let us underline, CANNOT be the executive of a state and then go away by yourself to another country to pout just because the legislative session was so rough that you just "needed a break". I guess the People of South Carolina should be thankful that nothing serious happened while Sanford was doing whatever a person hiding in a foreign country does, because if there had been some kind of emergency they would have been screwed, but I guess Sanford’s "mental health" is more important than the needs of his state. If Sanford and Ensign, who were both on the Republican short list for 2012, are the best the Republicans have, then maybe Palin isn’t any more ridicules of a choice as the rest of them!
Why is it that so many reporters take Republican talking points as facts and not what they are, complete bullshit. The President did not speak out any more forceful yesterday on Iran then he has in the last week, yet if you listen to reporters you’d think he has changed his tune. I guess it is a lot to ask modern journalist to actually do their fucking job, it might get in the way of their makeup time! I loved President Obama laughing off the McCain, Graham question, because even though the President wouldn’t say it, those two guys have truly become real jokes, and they need to remember who the President is, and hey John McCain it isn’t YOU! I salute Obama and have been very impressed with his handling of the Iranian situation, for he doesn’t have many options and ultimately it will be up to the Iranian people to decide what their future is going to be.
Finally we come to the Philosopher of the Week, Baruch Spinoza who wrote, "I have made a ceaseless effort not to ridicule, not to bewail, not to scorn human actions, but to understand them." If we spent more time on this now maybe the world would be a safer and better place. Spinoza also said, "I would warn you that I do not attribute to nature either beauty or deformity, order or confusion. Only in relation to our imagination can things be called beautiful or ugly, well-ordered or confused." He shows a deep understanding of how we view the world is all based on our prospective and how we approach it. Well I say to everyone keep you chin up, the world will turn, and until tomorrow goodbye....
