A world filled with life is a world filled with beauty ...

The red shouldered hawk lives in Safety Harbor. The displaying peacocks, peahen and baby peafowl were wonderful ... these birds are beautiful. Then I happened to meet a very large yellow rat snake. It slithered right up to my feet so it was large and kind.
For those who have devoted their life to shopping, read The Onion:

There is a reason why all material possessions eventually end up in the landfill. These things are quite literally worthless. If you want to make the world a better place, stop shopping.
For a much less humorous comment about the sad state of our global civilization and our own misplaced priorities:
A third of Kenya's population of 34 million is facing starvation.

Not that the average American cares about the suffering of 10+ million humans in Africa. When times were good the Americans were engaged in a shopping binge to end all binges (yes, that world has ended forever and isn't ever going to return). When times are bad the Americans are too worried about losing their jobs to spend any time thinking about millions of humans suffering in Africa.
Americans care a whole bunch about money, technology, convenience and consumerism. Americans don't care so much about the rest of humanity. Nor do Americans care so very much about Nature and the health of the planet.
So whenever I find Nature clinging to life anywhere I consider it a miracle.
