The Valley Club of Huntingdon Valley, PA - which barred members of a racially mixed children's club and refunded their $1900 fee for use of the club's swimming pool once a week has 'reversed' its position and is seeking to find a way to let the kids back into their facility, though they admit that steps will have to be taken to see that safety and overcrowding do not occur.
SWIM CLUB REVERSES DECISION
Apparently the public scrutiny and the outpouring of anger and rage at the racist and inhumane treatment the kids received at the hands of the club 'members' the day of the incident was too much for the board to bear.
My only question is this......
The Board President claims that there was 'no racism intended' in their decision - that they had excluded two OTHER children's day care centers prior to this for the same reason - overcrowding and safety considerations.
So, if this is true, then why did the club make no inquiries both as to the number of kids that would be using the pool this THIRD time and arrange for additional lifeguards to care for the crowd they KNEW was about to arrive?
Just asking.....
IN any event - we can all applaud the kids' victory in the fact of adults who one would think should know better.
Enjoy the pool, kids!!! You deserve it!!
