As a commenter on Facebook remarked, you seriously can't make this shit up.
In the tradition of the infamous Left Behind: Eternal Forces wingnuttery, now there's a game where users can shoot the Scary Gay Predators™ before they rape you.
More info at the jump.
Apparently, some schmuck in France, of all places, designed this game, which is named, "Watch Out Behind You, Hunter." It has been banned in the video game "creator's" home country, but not in the UK or here in the States. According to the UK's Pink News, the game...
going through the jungle and shooting any nudists who come out of the bushes. If they are to reach you before you shoot them then they rape you, an act which is shown on the game.
Gee, that doesn't perpetuate any ugly stereotypes about gay people being sex-crazed, lunatic predators, does it? Of course not!
Waymon Hudson at the Bilerico Project writes of this game:
So it paints gay men as naked rapists jumping out of bushes, has the player shoot them to "save themselves" from being violently raped, which they show if you "lose."
And the owner of the site can't understand why the community is up in arms about it??
He explains the game as just a juvenile, politically incorrect, good time:
Our games are not politically correct. They're aimed at teenagers (12-18) and it's true that they're of a juvenile humour.
"Juvenile humour"?? And it's "aimed at teenagers"?!? So we can teach kids it's hilarious to shoot gays because they are all dangerous rapists? That makes it better?
Is this guy for real?
Every level of this game is horrendous: from the depiction of gay men as naked, violent rapists to the horrific violence advocated against them to the okaying of "gay panic" reactions to gays in general.
What Wayne said. I went to the Georgian gaming site (Georgia, meaning the country in Eastern Europe, not the U.S. State) called Uzinagaz, which is quoted in Hudson's article as the host site for this game, and could find no evidence of this game on the site. However, it did feature an equally-classy Michael Jackson RIP game. (Quel surprise, Georgia is also not banning the game.)
There just seems to be no depths to the level people will sink to display their homophobia (whether veiled or not) proudly. The Matthew Shepard bill can't get signed into law soon enough IMO.
