Before the All Star Game in St. Louis Barack Obama told White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle that he was going to wear a Sox jacket to the mound. Buehrle didn't believe it but thought it was incredibly cool. I don't know what Buehrle's own politics are, but I know that he really appreciates Obama's love and support for the Sox.
Buehrle mowed down three hitters in one inning in the All Star game after having been knocked around by the Twins last week.
Today I was hoping he'd keep us close with Scott Kazmir and the Rays before heading to Detroit for a HUGE series.
And boy did Buehrle deliver!
He threw a perfect game, saved in the 9th inning by a home run-robbing catch by CF DeWayne Wise.
I bet Obama offers some words of congratulations to Buehrle.
Congratulations Mark!
