I want to thank slinkerwink and the other dkos diarists who have rightfully and righteously been giving us all some old drill sergeant loving by telling us we have no choice but to keep fighting to take this health care hill we are on.
When I look at the machinations, the dodging and weaving, of some of our elected representatives on the health care reform debate I get depressed, you get depressed. It's easy to blame the Senate, Blue dogs, Obama, the media and andybody else besides ourselves.
Just one simple question: have you made your calls today?
I spent yesterday calling progressive representatives and asking if they supported the pledge to vote NO on any watered-down bill. That would be any legislation that doesn't include a public option, that doesn't provide nation-wide coverage and that doesn't implement true oversight by the Congress and the public. Today I'm calling the House and Senate leadership and all the other numbers so helpfully provided by slinkerwink.
Well, have you made your calls? Or did you spend your time on witty repartee in response to other diarists? Did you moan and say how you are through with politics and politicians? Did you promise to crawl under a rock and hide if defeat is snatched from victory in the middle of the night?
Listen: they are politicians. They respond to political pressure. Give them some! They want you to give up. Don't do them any favors.
So for the benefit of those who may not have seen it yet, here is one of slinkerwink's invaluable links:

Gonna keep this short. I've gotta make some more calls!
