This seems so familiar.
Crazy, confused wingers yelling about Obama's Un-American-ness.
Slanderous TV ads making random shit up.
Michelle Bachman cranking up the nutty.
Sarah Palin making the headlines.
Angry conservatives yelling "I'm mad! I'm real mad!!!" But this time its at town hall meetings on health care reform.
I can't put my finger on it, but I feel like I've been here before. And it seems to me the last time this happened we were able to turn the crazy against itself. Most people were actually REPELLED by the crazy.
Remember that?
McCain actually had to try to un-whip his rabid, foaming crowd down from a savage lather.
And then...they tried it AGAIN a couple months ago to try to stop the stimulus, with the Obama As Hitler signs and the teabagging and the calls for Texas secession.
Good times.
That didn't seem to go over too well either.
And NOW they're trying it AGAIN!
Isn't the definition of insanity, trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?
Now Coulter...COULTER and ROVE are trying to talk down the birthers, as the birthers employ the YELLING tactic at town hall meetings.
If I didn't know better the following formula applies:
Birthers = Health Care Opposition
Birthers = Bat Shit Insane
Health Care Opposition = Bat Shit Insane
I realize most of our problem comes from within our own ranks. But I have no beef with branding those Blue Dogs as sympathetic to wacked-out, extreme far right losers in the coming weeks.
In fact, it might feel a bit cathartic...letting them know in the next few weeks that standing against Health Care Reform puts them shoulder to shoulder with the concentrated-madness that represents the last surviving members of a pathetically diminished and doomed party and political ideology. It's an ideology that's dying. It's a demographic that's shrinking. It's a trend that's waning. When the Young Cons are your final grasp at recruiting young cons, you're screwed.
Our Blue Dogs are standing with the birthers on the health care reform issue.
I dunno, man...that sounds kinda crazy. But maybe that's just me.
