Not much of a diary here, but she's getting lots of flack over her support for a strong public option and it'd be nice to call or write and thank her for her support and advocacy. I got to thank her in person recently and she's a very friendly , open and smart politician who is also a Blue Dog, but on this issue , she's on our side.
"Our moon shot"
We are great nation. We deserve the best health care in the world.
We need reform that puts patients first. It is not right and not fair that insurance companies can deny coverage because of pre- existing conditions or impose lifetime limits on service.
I support reform that allows Americans to keep their current health-care program, keep their doctors and keep their hospitals.
I support reform that creates competition through a strong public option that lowers everyone’s costs and competes with private insurers.
I support reform that allows Arizonans who lose their jobs to afford insurance so they can get back on their feet without fear of getting sick.
I support reform that will slow the growth of health-care costs and does not impose new taxes or burdens on our nation’s most valuable economic contributors, small businesses.
-Gabrielle Giffords
And for that ? For that she getsthistoday....
Gabrielle Giffords faces an ultimatum from some local constituents when it comes to national health care.
The terms given to the Arizona 8th Congressional District U.S. representative:
• Hold a Sierra Vista town hall meeting on health care.
• If she does not, then she is asked to resign her seat.

• If she doesn’t resign, then those who are upset with her will look for ways to recall her from office.
That was the prominent view Saturday when more than 150 people gathered outside her local office, which was closed due to the weekend. It was the second recent protest against Giffords by the local chapter of the Tea Party, primarily concerning health care.
andthis...
If this were still the Old West, there might be "wanted" posters in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District.
They’d have been posted by the National Republican Congressional Committee.
"Giffords is a target," NRCC spokeswoman Joanna Burgos said last week.
So I'd just like to ask that if you have a minute and are so inclined maybe drop her an email or give her office a call and thank her for standing up for a strong public option. We should make sure that we not only challenge and push the other Blue Dogs on health reform, but also thank and support those willing to go out on a limb and do the right thing .
