Breaking from TEXAS: Republican Congressman Burgess "it’s easier to poke holes in someone else than it is to defend your own product"
Event: Town hall meeting
Congressman Michael Burgess (R-TX 26th)
Date: Saturday August 8th
Start Time: 10:00 am
Location: Denton TX
In front of a highly Republican partisan town hall (est. 700-1000 participants) Texas Congressman Doctor Michael Burgess, (R-26th Congressional District) was questioned and challenged by a constituent from Flower Mound Texas as to his party's failure to enact health care reform when they were the majority. While mostly dodging the actual question (period from 2002-2006) Burgess did offer a revealing response which again unmasks the true nature of the Republican health care reform agenda. While the question itself has received widespread national (CNN) and DFW coverage, Congressman Burgess's comments/answer has not been reported on.
"My question to you is, I hear a lot about stopping these bills. You’ve been a representative of mine since 2002, when Republicans controlled the Congress and the Senate. Why didn’t you introduce and pass health care reform then?"

Rep. Michael Burgess-"...The Republicans have, and I’m not supposed to talk about this, the leadership, my leadership doesn’t like it, But it’s easier to poke holes in someone else than it is to defend your own product. We actually have a bill, which I participated in writing and we worked late into the night and many nights late in the spring to find something that would be, uh, you can’t fight something with nothing, and we needed a bill..."

PS-(On the youtube link)The crowd turns and drowns out the questioner when she tries to follow up. You can see and hear her follow up here: http://www.myfoxdfw.com/...
My thoughts?-
"You can’t fight something with nothing..." So, it’s not about fixing a broken system-but fighting to stop needed change?
"it is easier to poke holes than it is to defend you own product" Congressman Burgess,-when your "product" is a headfake to give the illusion of an alternate solution, it would be difficult to defend. (as you stated) Ironically, all of the frightened constituents at the meeting have misdirected their outrage, fear, etc... onto the Democrats and President Obama. Had they (Republicans) done their job when they had control it would have been case closed, no need to fear "Obamacare". It appears Mr. Burgess’s answer exposes that Republicans are either, fighting for the Status Quo, talking the easy way out, or where incapable of producing results for the American people when they were in power. Probably all 3.
