Well, folks, it's time to stop drinking the anti-Obama koolaid.
The Department of Justice has claimed that the Defense of Marriage Act is discriminatory (against gays).
It's clear that the hearts and minds of the Administration are in the right place, but that the reality of cleaning up all the dreck of the past eight years has taken just a wee bit of time and energy away from the implementation of the whole Obama agenda.
I have to wonder how many of the Obama-bashers here will publish 'mea culpa' diaries...not many IMHO.
That has partly to do with a kind of PTSD from all of the right-wing assaults in the last thirty or so years; it's easy to assume that everybody is in on the vast right-wing conspiracy and that Obama is just another cog. However, it's also a convenient excuse for inaction. Saying 'oh, the whole world sucks including Obama' provides some lefties cover for not phonebanking, not visiting your congressman to push for health care reform, or not contributing to progressive candidates.
Well here's a tip of the hat to Holder et al. Thanks for doing the morally right thing. Gays should be allowed to make the same stupid mistakes that straights can!
Now we have to start a new push...support gay divorce!
