Happy Friday evening! I have just survived my first week back at school, so this will be an open thread diary with a few tidbits.

A few interesting stories as food for thought:
25 Cheap Foods That Are Good for You
Watching your wallet and your waistline can be tricky. Eating right is easy when money is no object, but a trip to the supermarket often yields frustration for healthy eaters on a budget (which is most of us!). Fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein are on your list, but they're so much pricier than Ramen noodles, frozen pizzas and bottles of soda!
Fat-Fighting Chemical Holds Promise
THURSDAY, Aug. 27 (HealthDay News) -- Researchers report that a manmade chemical appears to have the power to turn off fat production, potentially turning it into a weapon against obesity.
Fat mice injected with the chemical, known as fatostatin, didn't get fatter and developed lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels, the research team said.
But don't run out and ask your doctor for a fatostatin shot quite yet. While the chemical holds promise as a "starting point" to develop new drugs, it's not a drug itself, said study co-author Motonari Uesugi, a researcher at Kyoto University in Japan.
Regular Yoga May Improve Eating Habits
Practicing yoga regularly may help your eating habits so you can maintain a healthier weight, a new study says.
Researchers at the Seattle-based Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center reported a link between yoga practitioners and "mindful eaters," people who were better aware of their feelings of hunger and fullness and why they ate. These mindful eaters, as opposed to those who ate regardless of hunger or to soothe anxiety or depression, tended to be less likely to be obese, the study found. Results are published in the August issue of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.
Bike Sharing begins in Short North
COLUMBUS, OH (WCBE) - People living in or visiting the Short North neighborhood now have the option to travel on a set of borrowed wheels. It's thanks to a new cooperative started by a handful of Columbus entrepreneurs, as WCBE intern Casey Best reports.
I had to work this week to get myself motivated to move. I jumped on the elliptical a couple of days this week and once I started listening to some music, started getting moving. Here's what was playing:
Cantaloop (Flip Fantsia) by US3
The Glamorous Life by Sheila E
Holiday by Green Day
Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani
Jam for the Ladies by Moby
Lose Yourself by Eminem
Not Ready to Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks
The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Since Supernatural by Santana
So what's on your mind or playing in your ear tonight?
