Hello fellow moms, dads and caregivers!
I am back with your weekly parenting news update. Here are some topics we recently discussed at MotherTalkers:
What's been on my mind? BPA. Bisphenol A, or BPA, is a synthetic and estrogenic chemical in plastic such as baby bottles and the inside linings of cans. It has been linked to everything from early onset of puberty to breast cancer, according to this fact sheet by the Breast Cancer Fund. I recently attended a rally in Sacramento, California, to publicly support a bill that would rid baby and toddler products of BPA. Here are some pictures from the event.
Also, in case you missed it, the metal water bottle company, Sigg, has issued a voluntary recall of the inside lining of water bottles it made before 2008. They contain traces of BPA. Our Katy over at Non-Toxic Kids has the scoop.
Here is a comprehensive list of favorite children's books for kids of all ages. What are your children's favorites?
In case you missed it, I ran photos of Markos's book signing in New Hampshire. Yes, Eli is Papi's little girl. I also set the record straight on the big minivan discussion in our household. (Markos is the one who wants it, not I!) What kind of car do you shuttle your little ones in? Why did you choose it?
What else is in the news? What's up with you?
