Yesterday was an especially pretty day with Nature's fury on display ...

The rain was falling long before humankind appeared and the rain will keep on falling long after humans are gone. From the standpoint of Nature humankind is just another species and there is nothing particularly special about this very brief era in the Earth's history.
The Universe hasn't spent the last 13.7 billion years waiting for humankind to evolve and the Universe won't spend the next 20 billion years mourning humankind's extinction. In the great scheme of things humankind doesn't amount to much ... humankind doesn't amount to anything at all.
In reading the responses to my last post about atheism I realize that these are exactly the sort of emotional, irrational, "I'm an angry victim" responses which I would expect from the adherents of any religion when their religion is criticized. Fundamentalist Christians respond in a similar fashion when the Bible is critized or they are reminded by the crimes committed by their Christian ancestors.
Atheism's intellectual leaders have committed prejudice-pandering, fearmongering, warmongering and George W. Bush-supporting. Christopher Hitchens was quite explicit in his bigotry here:

Sam Harris expressed support for fascism here:
The most alarming sentences that I have read in a long time came from the pen of my fellow atheist Sam Harris, author of The End of Faith, at the end of a September Los Angeles Times column upbraiding American liberals for their masochistic attitude toward Islamist totalitarianism. Harris concluded:
The same failure of liberalism is evident in Western Europe, where the dogma of multiculturalism has left a secular Europe very slow to address the looming problem of religious extremism among its immigrants. The people who speak most sensibly about the threat that Islam poses to Europe are actually fascists. To say that this does not bode well for liberalism is an understatement: It does not bode well for the future of civilization [italics mine].

Why do atheists think and speak in such a vile manner? Because atheism is a vacant proposition which absolutely lacks a positive message. Atheists spend all of their time expressing prejudice and bigotry against everyone else because of necessity. When you cannot sell your philosophy with a positive message what else can you do?
Some have denied that Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens speak for atheism. To those people I say:
If the intellectual famous outspoken evangelical atheists don't speak for atheism certainly neither do you!
Yet the atheists who are so very unhappy about criticism seem to think that they are speaking on behalf of atheism. However could that be possible, atheists?
If no one speaks for atheism, no one speaks for atheism ... including you.

Atheism does not have a positive message.
If you are an atheist and you disagree, reveal atheism's positive message in your comments.
Since I don't expect anything I won't be disappointed.
When all you have is hate, hate is all you have.
Is there such a think as atheism without prejudice and bigotry?
I don't think so.
