I am optimistic now. Really. If it is true that Obama is set to unveil his 'retooled campaign for his health care overhaul on Labor Day at a massive union picnic in Cincinnati.' then NO WAY is he announcing the death of the Public Option. No way.
The AFL-CIO’s annual Labor Day picnic is the venue. Obama will not risk being booed off the stage on the kickoff of his inserting himself more vigorously into the healthcare debate.
Why would Obama allow staff to anonymously leak information to Politico... and then plan a rollout in the lap of the AFL-CIO?
Politico has never impressed me with its line of 'anonymous tipsters'. They seem to enjoy appearing they have a more inside track than any other organization on the planet, yet most times I swear all they exist for is to stir pots and float balloons.
According to the AFL-CIO 18,000 Union Members Took Part in More Than 400 Health Care Events in August. They have been quite clear that unless there is a public option, they can kiss Union shoe leather goodbye.
Oh yes. This is looking good.
I am off to a MoveOn.org healthcare vigil here in Tampa tonight (if the rains stops!) in a much better mood than I was an hour ago.
