I know people are frustrated, as am I, and are concerned about the Politico article saying that President Obama is willing to fight with his base and will drop the Public Option in his major speech coming up next week. But TPM is reporting that:
President Barack Obama will unveil a retooled campaign for his health care overhaul on Labor Day at a massive union picnic in Cincinnati.
Obama will attend the AFL-CIO’s annual Labor Day shindig at Coney Island, an old amusement park on the Ohio River, accompanied by AFL-CIO President John Sweeney and Secretary Treasurer Richard Trumka.
We all know where the Unions stand and they have all drawn the line on the Public Option. Considering the location and whose going to be there I don't think the President has any indication to soften support on the Public Option nor drop it.
I hope this will be televised for everyone to see and I sincerely hope it will be something that brings up the morale of the base and the party as a whole.
I know this isn't much of a diary but I just wanted to bring something that could be positive for us instead of the politico article. You can read the rest here
Also some positive news on the economy:
The U.S. economy is beginning to show signs of improvement, with many economists asserting the worst is past and data pointing to stronger-than-expected growth. On Tuesday, data showed manufacturing grew in August for the first time in more than a year. "There's a method to the madness. We're getting out of this," said Brian Bethune, chief U.S. financial economist at IHS Global Insight.
I think it's important that we highlight the good things as well no matter how small you may think it is! We can't always let the negative dominate!
Economists say the money out the door -- combined with the expectation of additional funds flowing soon -- is fueling growth above where it would have been without any government action.
