This August, "the progressive movement" was punched squarely in the mouth by the Republican Party. . . but instead of punching back, many of us decided that none of this would have happened if President Obama would have only [insert brilliant idea here].
Well you know what - if the President is not going to be able to go all around the country and defend us on each and every issue simultaneously like he promised during the campaign, what good is he, right?
I saw a U.S. Congressman (forget his name, but he's from Virginia) on CNN this morning telling a reporter that the reason the Democrats are having all these problems with health reform is because "the White House" lost the message war and underestimated how energized the opposition was.
Uh huh.
Couldn't possibly have anything to do with the mixed message coming from the Democratic Party - President Obama is our leader, 'cept we don't trust him because an anonymous source (that lied about him right through Inauguration day) said that he sold us out - and we believe it.
Riiiiiight.
The same President who has been fighting lies and smears for over two years had no idea that people would tell lies about health care.
Makes perfect sense.
And now Keith Olbermann goes on the air to tell us that the President is going to face a primary if he doesn't do what "the progressives" want him to do . . . neglecting the small fact that "the progressives" don't have the votes to pass what they want in the Senate.
But that's the President's fault.
Because if he read the script that "the progressives" gave him, all those Senators from Conservative states would roll right over and quake in fear of the scary words.
You betcha.
I can't wait to meet this great new candidate that will "fight" for what is right, and not be "swift boated" or "yeehawed" by the media. This guy or gal is going to be GREAT! I mean, once America hears THE TRUTH, surely they will vote for what is good for them and America, right?
What could go wrong?
So I guess all we need to do now is find that SUPER DELUXE primary challenger, make damn sure that they've paid their taxes (or in a pinch, raise LBJ from the dead), impeach President Obama, and usher in a new age of universal health care, larger stimulus packages, and problem free torture prosecutions.
I can't wait.
And hopefully, once all of our progressive dreams have finally come true the Republicans will stop punching us and see that we were right all along.
What could possibly go wrong?
Note: I changed the title because I felt that blaming EVERYTHING on the President might have been a bit excessive, but we can all agree that he is a weak loser, right?
