Googling around I found this this yesterday. I started it as a comment in another thread, but believe it deserves a more comprehensive diary
"The sign guy was Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and it said "what bill" in scratchy sharpie letters. Rumor has it more signs were out there on that half of the chamber.
From a comment here: Community.thenest.com
There may have been more signs on other laps on the Republican side of the aisle, but this one got the attention. A townhall style, one could almost say "hippie-esque" handwritten sentiment. However, hippies write neater, more coherently and stay based in facts.
So, what do we know about him?
Matt Finkelstein at Media Matters Action notes that Rep. Bill Posey’s (R-FL) " birther bill " has gained its 10th Republican cosponsor : Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX).
Think Progress
So he doesn't just write sloppy signs, he also doesn't know how to read birth certificates or newpaper birth announcements.

(If anyone can tell me how to add these images or can put them in the comments section I'd be grateful. Also, can't locate a screen shot of him at the Speech with the sign. It takes a Village.;o) )
I called the Texas Democrats and they could not find any information on anyone running against him in 2010. According to the Texas Dems nothing can be filed for ballot until Dec 3-Jan 4th. Although, the person who may know about current exploratory was out of the office. I left a message.
TX Secretary of state didn't have any info yet either obviously.
If there is no one...that needs to change.
Taking an idea from pinback's diary on Rep. Shimkus until we have a candidate to run against this guy:
Progressive Change Campaign Committee
Texans especially, keep your eyes on this guy and potential for this race. It doesn't matter that TX01 is . Michael McCaul TX-10 district is heavy with teabaggers and contains the reddest precinct in TX, yet despite the fact that his father in law owns Clear Channel and he is beholden to Rush:
McCaul was elected comfortably to Congress with 79 percent in 2004, when no Democrat ran in the general election and two third-party candidates spent no more than $50,000 combined. McCaul's Dem opponent in 2006 spent a paltry $64,000, yet still garnered 40 percent of the vote. And McCaul's percentage dropped to 55 percent.
In 2008, a DailyKos/Research2000 poll released late in the campaign found Democrat Larry Joe Doherty trailing McCaul by just 4 points. Doherty spent $1.2 million, about a half-million less than McCaul, and the Republican's winning percentage dropped to 54 percent, below the threshold of what should be considered a solid victory.

So we KNOW that it may take time to work out Representative Gohmert, but with tenacity and some funds we can do it. Out damned Birther, out, out! :o)
