It's murder. Simple as that. Murder.
In this debate about health care, we've touched on it, there have even been a few diaries using the M-word, but that's about it. The president has related stories of those who have been murdered, but when he gets to the part where they die, it seems anti climactic, as if something is wrong with the timing.
There have even been television ads which skirt around the issue.
Not. Any. More. It's time to call it for what it is publicly and loudly.
So what kinds of ads? Picture gentle piano type music, with that slightly atonal horror film aspect to it. Tell a story or two. "person x was diagnosed with cancer. In the middle of treatment, his insurance company dropped his coverage. Unable to afford treatment, he died, murdered by the people to whom he paid x amount of money a month" "child y suffered from a condition undiagnosed because her mother could not afford insurance. When it became serious, she was shuttled from hospital to hospital because they would not accept an uninsured patient. She died, murdered by the system that wouold not care for her". As the announcer mentions that they died, the word "Murdered" comes onto the screen and does that slow shrink. The announcer says the statistic about how many die from no insurance or bad insurance with the subtitle "x thousand murders a year" Cut to cute pictures of white children looking plaintatively into the camera "How many more murders will be committed in the name of profit?" "Some in Congress are siding with the murderers and blocking health care reform" Call your congress person or senator and ask them "are you a murderer? vote for health care reform"
Every Democrat has been called "murderer and baby killer". It's time to return the favor. We need to get out and be loud. Call them what they are. Get our elected friends to use the term as well. They will not intimidate us. Not. This. Time. If they want to call down the thunder, well, let the sleeping giant awaken.
