Want to see the move about the life of Charles Darwin when he was writing "On The Origin Of Species"? Live in the United States? You've got a problem.
A movie about the life of Charles Darwin opened the Toronto Film Festival this past week. This was an incredible honor for the film since usually only Canadian films are given that placement on the gala opening night. This event is supposed to provide a early read on what films are likely to be Oscar contenders.
I would love to go see this film. But I can't. Because no one is willing to distribute the film in the United States. It's been sold nearly everywhere else, but no one is willing to touch it here.
The rest of the world is left scratching their heads over the United States yet again. I'm furious over this, now these wingnuts get to dictate what films we can watch. Do you think it would be possible to do something about this? Letter write to a distributor? Anything?

What stunned me even more is that religious groups in the UK are coming up with companion material and resources for church groups going to see this film together. But here this movie inspires the church groups to get out the pitchforks and torches. Sigh. I just don't get it.
