Here's my response to Speaker Pelosi's DCCC fundraising email:
Greetings Speaker Pelosi,
I will be happy to contribute when the DCCC makes a firm commitment to progressive programs, starting with an unequivocal line in the sand on a robust public option in the health care reform package. I have been deeply disappointed with the lackluster campaign the Democrats have waged in this regard, allowing the truly moronic arguments of the Sarah Palins to achieve a currency that no such craziness should ever have. This is a profound attack on our nation's security, and can be directly traced to the utterly mistaken tactics of the Blue Dogs. We won the election with historic margins, and we represent the majority of the nation. The public option routinely polls extremely highly across the political spectrum, and for the Democrats to dilute the health care bill to appease the fringe is beyond stupid.
My donations have gone to those who have drawn a line in the sand on the public option. I will not contribute a penny to those deluded Democrats who advocate a health care bill which will be worse than no reform, and will doom the party to certain defeat when the effects of a give-away to the for-profit insurance sector-the very force that has created the health care crisis-is felt by the middle class.
I sincerely hope you will correct this situation. When Democrats will again commit themselves to strong and principled stands, I will stand with you. Until that happens, there are much better recipients of my support, such as Act Blue and Howard Dean's organization.
Sincerely,
blueingreen
