It is apparently sent because they have an opinion and only theirs matters.
I received this in my inbox tonight:
Will NBC be surprised??*
Here's your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our faith in God, as a nation..
NBC is presently taking a poll on "In God We Trust" to stay on our American currency.
Please send this to every Christian you know so they can vote on this important subject.
Please do it right away, before NBC takes this off their web page. Poll is still open so you can vote:

This is not sent for discussion. If you agree forward it, if you don't, delete it.
By my forwarding it, you know how I feel.
I'll bet this is going to be a surprise to NBC. emphasis mine
My very last diary One of my last diaries was about Freeping Polls and how dumb I think it is. But I do agree that sometimes not Freeping a poll leads to rather startling headlines. Freeping Polls is Ridiculous
However, the point of my ire this evening isn't that someone is putting the fix on an MSNBC poll, but that the people who send this crap to my email think they can avoid any conversation about it by a simple disclaimer.
I've got a better disclaimer that I can send in response:
This is up for discussion if you send it to MY email box. I will not simply delete it. If I find something false, hyperbolic, or just plain stupid there's a good chance I'll tell you and your distribution list. So next time think wisely before you include me in forwards such as this.
The days of sucking up and being quiet have been over for a while.
