Yesterday evening a clip from Katie Couric's recent interview with Glenn Beck hit the internet, in which the Fox News poster boy admits that he would have voted for Hillary Clinton if she'd won the Democratic Primary--and that Obama is doing a better job, all things considered, than John McCain would be.
I'll give you a minute to let that sink in.
Yes, in a bizarre surprise move that would have faked out even five-time Pro Bowl strong safety Troy Polamalu, Fox News' resident baby-faced firebrand Glenn Beck admitted that our socialist, racist, foreign-born Führer, Barack Hussein Obama, isn't really all that bad. In fact, we could have it a lot worse if all the tea-baggers and right-wing nut-jobs that have been singing Beck's praises for the last few months had actually had their guy win. We'd have it just like... Teddy Roosevelt? Huh? I hope he's got a lot of chapstick on hand, because there are going to be many asses to kiss when the entire interview goes live on CBSNews.com tonight at 7pm.
Here's to hoping that CBS runs at least the highlights of the new Couric-hosted web program on their television station, because it would be a damn shame to see this thing get swept under the rug because so many of the people who should be hearing what their dear and wondrous leader has to say about their own brother in arms don't use that damn socialist internet in the first place. Of course it will all get chalked up to a "liberal conspiracy" cooked up by the commies at CBS, but we should at least get a few supremely entertaining clips in the days to come of Beck, teary-eyed and begging at the mercy of Limbaugh, Coulter and the rest of the conservative elite.
Why isn't he saying this stuff on Fox News? Why is he spending his time race-baiting and encouraging people to show up at rallies armed, when he admits himself that we really don't have it that bad? And on the tails of Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner's admittance on this Sunday's Meet the Press that he knows damn well Obama isn't a socialist, despite what he said at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February. Hilarious, right? It's just a game to them, the dirtiest kind of politics, seeing who they can get fired up enough to do their dirty work while they reap the benefits of some pretty blatantly slanderous fear-mongering. Either that or just to keep the ratings high and the millions rolling in. Someone needs to keep track of the shit that comes out of these blabbering mouths and hold them accountable for it.
And apparently Katie Couric is the woman to do it. Who would've guessed?
