I realize that some of the astonishment that President Obama actually puts in a full work day is because the previous president was on an 8-year spring break, but enough already. It makes me wonder what the various reporters and sideliners who keep reporting this as news consider hard work? The past few days, it seems their schedule consists of:
1.) Print President Obama’s schedule
2.) Express weird, almost disapproving, statement of confusion about why he works so hard
3.) Go home
It’s like they’re pissed off at him because he’s making them look bad, or making them stay on duty past 4 p.m. because he might actually do something newsworthy after the evening rush hour.
Guess what, pundits? Lots of Americans have "a full day" – every day, week after week, year after year. Our daily schedules aren’t as glamorous as the President’s. Our work may not be as compelling or influential, but we sometimes have full days, too. And full nights.
Those of you caring for an elderly parent, a sick partner, or a newborn child know exactly what I’m talking about.
Here is a good example of the media's near disbelief that someone works hard.
Brace yourself. Believe it or not, President Obama is going to give a speech, listen to some other speeches, meet with the Russian president, and help his wife Michelle host a reception – ALL IN ONE DAY!!
Slow down, man! You're already weak from overexposing yourself last Sunday. You’re going to hurt yourself.
