Unfortunately, everything has become political since President Obama took office.
I have been a supporter of President Barack Obama since he announced his campaign for President of the United States. I went above and beyond for Barack's campaign and I raised $13,725. However, I do not support plan for a longger school calendar. We already spend enough time in school.
The summer vacations that I, and many other students enjoy, could be sharply curtailed if President Obama gets his way. President Obama says kids spend too little time in school, putting them at a disadvantage with other students around the globe. Really? I am starting to see alot of honor students. I think President Obama is not focusing on the right issues.
President Obama says that the challenges of a new century demand more time in the classroom. No President Obama, there is no need for more time in the classroom. Stop getting involved in everything. Instead, worry about the big problems the United States is facing; healthcare and the economy, not the school calendar. President Obama's plan is to keep kids in school until dinnertime and during summer. I think seven hours of school for 180 days if just fine. Add anymore, you will get a new group of protesters to add to your little list, President Obama.
Then our lovely Education Secretary Arne Duncan told the Associated Press that "Our school calendar is based upon the agrarian economy and not too many of our kids are working the fields today," That might be true but there are tons of kids that have a job after high school to earn a living. To pay for things that their parents would pay for. Some of them work just to help their family because the government can't help them.
Unfortunately, everything has become political since President Obama took office. He is getting involved in places that he has no business in. For a review of how President Obama has acted stupidly so far, look at his comments of the Gates arrest and he called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs.
