With ALL the issues going on in the country, it is not wholly unexpected that Democrats are not fully focused on the governor’s race in Virginia where Mr Creigh Deeds(D)is running against Mr Bob McDonnell(R). We as Progressives must not forget that fighting for a Democrat, Mr Creigh Deeds, to win the governor’s race is especially important nationally on three levels at the very least.
First, if Mr. Deeds wins it will be very important in the re-districting that is scheduled for the congressional districts in a state that is trending Democratic blue (or purple at the very least).
Secondly, if Mr. Deeds wins, we would avoid the punditry narrative that Democrats are going to be loose very badly in 2010 that is beginning to take shape.
Third, Democratic legislators are cowardly at the threat of a loss. Once Dems in congress and senate think that their own re-election is threatened, then they are going to become even bigger cowards and refuse to enact the changes that need to be done to move this country forward.
Please join the fight and help out Mr Deeds in VA in any way you can. There is still a month to go and if any shake ups are going to happen, now is the time – Please help and thanks

I think that we are making a mistake if we give up the VA governor's race without a huge fight and here is my argument.
First, if Mr. Deeds wins the governor’s race this will be very important in the re-districting that is scheduled for the congressional districts in a state that is trending Democratic blue (or purple at the very least). Having a Democratic governor in place in VA would ensure that the opportunities to skew a make-up of voting districts in the favor of republicans are minimized or avoided. Democrats need all the congressional votes they can get in order to preserve any progressive policy gains we have made in the last few years.
Secondly, if Mr. Deeds wins the governor’s race, we would avoid the punditry narrative that Democrats are going to be loose very badly in 2010. We all know that this is how the Mainstream Media is pushing narrative for the political re-alignment so that they can have a repeat 1994. We should be working our hardest to ensure that this does not happen because all our progressive agenda would be immediately curtailed.
Third, Democratic legislators are so jittery and cowardly that once they think that their own re-election is threatened, then they are going to become even bigger cowards and refuse to enact the changes that need to be done to move this country forward.
The latest I heard was that 9% points separate the two with the republican ahead. Can we at least do two things to put in a fight for Mr Creigh Deeds (i) do some opposition research and find out the political information that can shake up the race (ii) create some positive excitement for Deeds though creating buzz on line, financial donations, and creative material that can change the dynamics of the race.
I suspect that a number of people are not that bothered about a Virginia Governor's but I think that we are wrong if we think that it is not crucial.
I believe that what finally happens will depend on the role of the grassroots and their ability to be creative and bold.
Hence, I am using this as a challenge for us in the grassroots to re-engage and fight harder at every level and for every vote. Where has the fight for Democratic wins gone among activists? Are we ready to roll over and let the reoublicans get away with being on the offensive while we seem passive at best?
Have we really done ALL we can do to support Mr Deeds with our creativity and resources or are we in fact letting the other side win without a fight?
We can use the tools we have to make some connections among the republican candidate and some people or organizations that would make independents in Virginia take a second look.
Please people, progressives are very creative and we know how to do this so please BRING THE DEEDS BUZZ and see what we can do in the next few weeks.
Ps. I do not live in Virginia but those who live in VA or the neighbouring states, can you please try to get some video footage of the republican that can focus attention on his shortcomings.
what can you do for Mr Deeds?
