I'm sorry for the not-so polished video response, but I wanted to show you guys how I was feeling about this latest compromise that's floated to give Senate moderates cover and to give the appearance of a "win" to Democrats. Also, if you can't understand some of what I'm saying, it's because I'm deaf. It's not easy for me to put my words out there verbally, but tonight had to merit that response from my point of view.
We shouldn't be working to undercut our progressives in Congress when we're so close on getting a national trigger-free public option. We're so close in getting what we want because of your phone calls, e-mails, and visits to lawmakers, but if we jump onto this latest tricks and mirrors, we're not helping our progressives in Congress, and weakening our own position on this issue.
Don't fall for this classic divide-and-conquer strategy that punishes our fellow Democrats based on where they live. It's not American, and it's not democratic. It'd be like letting states opt out of Roe v. Wade in this instance.
Also, please help join our POP! movement for the public option because we're so unbelievably close to getting what we want now!
