I've weighed in (so to speak) a few times here in response to others' diaries about my state's Governor Jon S. Corzine, making the point that to me he's just another arrogant billionaire who wants to control people's lives and that Dick Codey is the guy who should be running the state. I've also said that I would hold my nose and vote for him. Now, I'm about at the point where I might just sit out the Governor's race entirely. I just can't stand this guy.
Today's NYTimes has an article on the new Corzine campaign ad that basically suggests we shouldn't vote for his opponent, Christie, because he's a fat piece of shit.
It is about as subtle as a playground taunt: a television ad for Gov. Jon S. Corzine shows his challenger, Christopher J. Christie, stepping out of an S.U.V. in extreme slow motion, his extra girth moving, just as slowly, in several different directions at once.
In case viewers missed the point, a narrator snidely intones that Mr. Christie "threw his weight around" to avoid getting traffic tickets....
Mr. Corzine’s television commercials and Web videos feature unattractive images of Mr. Christie, sometimes shot from the side or backside, highlighting his heft, jowls and double chin.

It's working, too.
In a recent survey conducted by Monmouth University, voters were asked to say the first thing that came to mind about Mr. Christie. "Fat" was one of the most frequent responses, said Patrick Murray, the director of the poll, who attributed the results to the Corzine ads.
I'm no fan of Christie. I won't vote for him. But this is really low-life stuff, particularly at a time when the state's in the crapper and Corzine has been a lousy, arrogant, bullying governor. It makes me angry when he comes to Daily Kos and people drop to their knees for him -- gang, he's just another Goldman Sachs billionaire who got tired of pushing people around because he was rich and decided he wanted to push EVERYBODY around by going into politics.
Sorry, Gov. Corzine. I'm pretty sure you've lost my vote.
