I am so impressed by how the DKos community looks behind domestic policy initiatives to expose which corporate interests benefit from which change in the laws our elected officials are debating. I have read great posts about the on-going attempts of health care insurance companies to manipulate the American public, how big Pharma is trying to protect its outrageous profits, how coals and oil companies are gunning against progress on climate change.
By why when it comes to Israel, do we leave our broad analytical skills behind? Why don't we have the courage to follow the money?
The progressive "line" these days is to be heart-broken for the Palestinians. Several diaries have witnessed the plight of Gaza Arabs in the aftermath of the Israeli incursion. Yet none of the diarists bother to follow the money trail of Arab propaganda oil money.
For example, Human Rights Watch has been unrelenting in its charges against Israel. It constantly holds Israel to standards higher than any other protagonists in any other conflict around the world. It might not be surprising, then, to find that Human Right Watch is actually attempting to raise substantial funds from Saudi Arabia. This fact was acknowledged by HRW's Executive Director, Ken Roth, in an interview with Jeffry Goldberg. Here is the link:

Lets try to have some honesty about who is funding these attacks on Israel, about why we are only getting the Palestinian side of the story, and about what Big Oil is up to in the Middle East.
