Imagine a hellacious, brutal battle in the hills of Afghanistan or the streets of Iraq., against such well armed forces that the US armed forces were losing a consistent five soldiers every hour, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Day or night, rain or shine, another casket rolled up every 12 minutes. You would need a continuous procession of airborne cargo liners just to bring all the bodies back home without falling behind. Imagine the stench, the sound, the screams.
Of course, at that rate of death, it would only be a year or two before the entire Afghan / Iraq USA presence had been put in the grave, assuming we didn't draft another couple hundred thousand troops to take on this unbelievable challenge.
What would you, as an individual, or a legislator, or an armed force member be prepared to do, to turn back such an overwhelming tide of death and defeat?
Would it be worth another $100B per year to bring that death rate under control ?
