Six weeks ago I stood up as a community organizer and grassroot advocate and entered Atlanta's mayoral race. In 48 hours, I was able to raise over $4700 in order to get on the ballot. I've stood up for my community. I've stood up to say that City Hall is failing us and that the reigning political establishment is ineffective. Crime and fiscal mismanagement are not new issues.
If you dig it show it to a friend and see more below the fold!
It's been an interesting journey, only 6 weeks old at this point. It's flown by yet I've felt every second. It's exciting, heartbreaking, ball-busting, exhausting... but good. There's been some negative press:
And some good:
(From Fox even!)
I've been described as "The Wild Card" in the race who wants to better the city - and that's just fine by me.
But despite the good and the bad (and fully knowing both would be thrown at me), it feels good to be part of the process. It feels good to be having an affect on my city, to have stood up, and to be able to shape the race, however big or small. Yes, I get criticized and many people don't understand. But for those who do - and who take a minute to thank me along the way - it truly makes it worth it.
This Sunday is my first (and only) televised debate with all five of the other candidates. It's my one televised shot to say what I want to say about City Hall and offer my own visions and plans for the future of Atlanta. I may not be "the most experienced" candidate in the race but experience in politics is a double-edged sword.
Thanks to many of you who initially donated to get me on the ballot. The vast majority of contributions have been small and have been from inside Atlanta city limits. But since some of you may be interested in an update, I figured I'd share some news with ya.

I have a week and a half until election day. As Atlanta's quasi-official "social media candidate for mayor," I appreciate your support from afar!
