I really don't like FOX news, or its opinion. I do think that, by whatever mechanism, since its inception, FOX has been able to establish itself as a "news" organization, much like CNN.
Doesn't mean I agree with it, but they are perceived to be a functioning part of the fourth branch. Personally I think it's bullshit. But I think a lot of stuff is bullshit and it still happens around me on a daily basis. I don't have any control over it.
Never-the-less, the White House and FOX are engaged in a pissing contest. The WH says FOX isn't a news organization. The WH has had a couple of good slap-downs/goads of FOX in the past few days. Enter FOX's counter. On Friday of this week, FOX implied (note implied) that the WH intentionally shut out FOX from the "Pay Czar" interview and the other four "major" networks banded together to get FOX an interview.
First, the FOX video from the man who was there Major Garrett (after the jump):
Heh, according to TPM that's not quite how it went down.
Here's the reporting
Feinberg did a pen and pad with reporters to brief them on cutting executive compensation. TV correspondents, as they do with everything, asked to get the comments on camera. Treasury officials agreed and made a list of the networks who asked (Fox was not among them).
However, FOX was at the pen and pad and seemed not to ask for an interview. It doesn't matter, because here's how the 'networks banded together':
The network pool crew noticed Fox wasn't on the list, was told that they hadn't asked and the crew said they needed to be included. Treasury called the White House and asked top Obama adviser Anita Dunn. Dunn said yes and Fox's Major Garrett was among the correspondents to interview Feinberg last night.
"was told they hadn't asked". Hmmmm. WH immediately approves. Yeah, there's your stonewalling. By the way, a judicious reading of the reporting doesn't clarify which crew said they needed to be included. It could have been the FOX news crew as far as the reporting I've seen on it.
Here's the problem: When you go to war with amoral dipshits, they will do everything they can to sink your ship. This stinks of a FOX set-up. I have no proof of that other than what I've offered here, but Occam's Razor is pretty fucking accurate. America faced has faced this challenge before, in oh...say 1941. All I'm saying is that Truth and Courage won that war.
(OMFG! Did I just compare FOX to Nazis? Sweet little pretty Jesus, White little pretty Jesus, Western little pretty Jesus, Republican little Jesus, please forgive my sins. I know not what I do. I know you protect old, rich, white men and poverty stricken fools. I fall into neither category...what am I to do? Come-on Lord, Nazi-Con does sound pretty cool, doesn't it?)
