This morning I saw this story out of the UK:
http://www.bloomberg.com/...
One in five Britons would consider voting for the whites-only British National Party, a YouGov poll for the Daily Telegraph said, two days after BNP leader Nick Griffin appeared in a British Broadcasting Corp. debate.
And then I remembered something...
So one in five Britons would vote for an extreme, racist, whites only party.
And just a few days ago there was this story from the Washington Post:
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/...
The Republican Shrinkage Problem
The new Washington Post/ABC news poll has all sorts of intriguing numbers in it but when you are looking for clues as to where the two parties stand politically there is only one number to remember: 21.
That's the percent of people in the Post/ABC survey who identified themselves as Republicans, down from 25 percent in a late March poll and at the lowest ebb in this poll since the fall of 1983(!).
So 22% of Britons would vote for the modern equivalent of the KKK or the Nazi Party and 21% of Americans will admit to being a Republican.
Coincidence?
I think not!
There has been a couple of scientific studies since 1947 concerning The Authoritative Personality Type.
See these books for more information on it:

The theory was originally an attempt to explain how so many Europeans could have followed Hitler and Mussolini to such extreme ends. The results seemed to indicate that about one person in five in all societies have what has been termed "Authoritarian Personality". In short that they are sort of crazy people that easily fall into a habit of blindly following irrational right wing leaders. So I think we can see who is now left in the Republican Party.
