I know that it’s hard to be shocked by corruption on Capitol Hill, but what happened last week in the House is bad even by their standards.
Rep. John Campbell - who has taken over $170,000 in contributions from auto-dealers and has personal financial ties to that industry - pushed an amendment through the House Financial Services Committee exempting used car dealers from consumer financial protections.
We made a short video calling Campbell out, and we've launched a petition telling Congress what to do about it:

We also need your help to spread the word. How many folks do you know who would be outraged that the next person they buy a car from may be exempt from consumer protections because a random congressman is being bought off?
Send them a link to this diary, ask them to sign the petition.
We are going to push the video and petition as widely as possible. Then, next week, we will let the media know about this activism -- nationally, and also in John Campbell's home district. We're also launching an online ad in Campbell's district so he is shamed in front of his constituents
The more people sign our petition, the more credible our activism will be in the media -- and the more we can shame Rep. Campbell publicly and make an example out of him.

We'll keep you up to date on our progress. Thanks for helping to Change Congress.
