Today's Topic: Music and Animals, Part 1
There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats. ALBERT SCHWEITZER
This diary is a politics free zone, meant for relaxing and unwinding for a few minutes, before going back to the serious stuff.
Feel free to add your own photos and comments. Pet care and concern comments are always allowed, of course, but otherwise, please keep it lighthearted and friendly.
This is part one of two - Pooties, Woozles and Music.
Part 2 is planned to be published November 9th.
Pootie-Woozles and Music
Music About Animals
Music By Animals
Music For Animals
MUSIC BY ANIMALS
All animals like to "sing". Here are a few examples:
Of course, birds sing most of all.
Some animals even play instruments?!?!
At least they do at the icanhascheezeburger.com site.
And just plain play
And, as pooties do so well, sleep.
Music about animals
As expected, many songs about animals are written for children.
I found a list of animal songs at this site:
http://www.songfacts.com/...
Be sure to visit the site, because there are lots of links at the site that lead to interesting histories about the songs, composers, lyrics, and even audio links of the music. You have to register to used some of the features of the site.
From the looks of the list found, I think there must be a song about every known animal, including insects.

Music for Animals
Did you know there is species specific music published for animals?
MUSIC FOR POOTIES
How about a dance?
Music for cats (pooties) found on the web: I am listing two sites here.
1. http://musicforcats.com/...
There is some interesting information at the site, but my pooties only showed a noticable reaction to one of the very brief audio samples available. There is some interesting information about research being done, but I did not see any research specific to pooties.
A quote from the site:
All of the music that you ever heard, every note, every phrase was
written by and for humans. Now for the first time, there is authentic music for cats.
2. http://catfaeries.com/...
Calming music, all written and played by Cheryl Christine. The sample was calming, but too brief to tell any effect on my pooties.
A quote from the site:
If every cat listened to this music they'd be so relaxed that they'd probably never squabble among themselves.
MUSIC FOR BIRDS
This site has music for pooties, woozles and BIRDS. The only album they have for birds is "Lullabies for My Bird".

MUSIC FOR WOOZLES
Dance Music
Music for dogs (woozles) found on the web:
http://throughadogsear.com/
There is much more information at this site, than at the first pootie music site. The music appears to be calming, classical music, rather than music composed specifically for the woozles. It seemed to me that there is more music available than at the pootie sites. There is detailed information about what music is appropriate for specific anxieties, like separation, fireworks, boarding, etc. The section with this information is called Musical Tips for Behavioral Issues. http://throughadogsear.com/...
Wishing you and your animals lots of beautiful music.
